Sr. Director, Accessibility at Yahoo
“Mike Shebanek is a Senior Director at Yahoo where he leads the Yahoo Accessibility Team which works closely with Yahoo product designers, engineers and product managers to make Yahoo products accessible to people with disabilities.
Previously, Mike spent 19 years in Worldwide Product Marketing at Apple where he was the Product Manager for the original iMac, the original iPad, and OS X. In 2004 he rebooted Apple’s Accessibility program, developed and marketed the advanced accessibility features in OS X and iOS, and was the product manager who developed the VoiceOver screen reader built in to every new Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and AppleTV.
Mike has extensive speaking experience including the Keynote presentation at TechShare 2005, presentations at Global Accessibility Awareness Day 2015, conferences including ATIA, the CSUN International Technology and Persons with Disabilities Conference, AFB Leadership Conference, M-Enabling Summit, and Vision UK.
Mike has a degree in Computer Science from California State University, Fullerton, four technology patents, and is author of the book “The Complete Guide to the NEXSTEP User Environment.””
