“Tina is the Founder and CEO of MotherCoders, a non-profit social enterprise dedicated to on-ramping women with kids to careers in technology so they can thrive in a digital economy. Through their signature tech orientation program, MotherCoders has helped mothers gain the technical skills, industry knowledge, and peer and professional support they need to confidently advance toward new careers in tech. With a part-time schedule, on-site childcare, and a non-profit model, MotherCoders is truly one of a kind in the technology training and workforce development landscape.

In 2015, under Tina’s leadership, MotherCoders won a finalist prize in the Bay Area Google Impact Challenge, a contest where only 25 organizations were chosen out of nearly 800 applicants for their innovative work and social impact. Most recently, the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts named Tina in their 2016 YBCA 100 list, an annual compilation of creative minds, makers, and pioneers that are shaping American culture.

Prior to founding MotherCoders, Tina has worked in government and the nonprofit and private sectors. A lifelong San Franciscan, Tina holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political, Legal and Economic Analysis from Mills College, and an MBA from their Lorry I. Lokey Graduate School of Business. In 2010, Tina received her M.A. in Education from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Education, where her studies in their Learning, Design & Technology Program focused on how technology can be used to foster civic engagement.

Tina writes and speaks regularly on topics related to the new economy, including digital inclusion, workforce development, and the changing needs of women and families.”
